Congrats to co-ESP players of the week are D’Vonte Waller from Highland Springs and Manchester’s KJ McNeil.  Waller was 16 for 27 for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns leading the Springers to a 37-26 win over Stone Bridge and their 4th straight Division 5 state championship.  McNeil was like a Swiss-army knife as the Lancers dominated Freedom of Woodbridge 49-7 for the Division 6 state title.  He had 5 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown, but also ran for a score and threw a 27-yard TD pass.  On defense he had 5 tackles, a sack and an interception.  Plus he has one punt return for 23 yards.

Manchester won the Division 6 state title dominating Freedom of Woodbridge 49-7, the Lancers finishing 15-0.  After the game Gary Hess and Gary Criswell talked to Coach Tom Hall, QB Brendon Clark, and Utility standout KJ McNeil.

Highland Springs wins its 4th straight state title beating Stone Bridge 37-26 to finish 15-0.  Gary Hess and Gary Criswell chatted with coach Loren Johnson which was divided into 2 video files due to a techincal glitch.  They also chatted with standout linebacker Christian White.

Congats to ESP players of the week Brendon Clark from Manchester and Tremayne Talbert from Highland Springs.  Clark was 11 for 17 for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns and had a 27-yard touchdown run as the Lancers handled Ocean Lakes 42-3 in the Division 6 state semifinals.  Talbert had a 100 yard punt return for a touchdown, a 99 yard kickoff return for a score, and caught a 48 yard touchdown pass as the Springers took care of Maury 71-28 in the Division 5 state semis.

Highland Springs meets Stone Bridge for the D5 state title for the 3rd time in 4 years.  Stone Bridge runs a variation of the single wing offense and back in 2015 Coach Criz broke it down on video using a white board. Check it out.

Congrats to the ESP player of the week is Devin McCray from Goochland.  He rallied the Bulldogs in the 4th quarter for a 21-14 win over Poquoson in the Region 2A Final.  The standout quarterback finished 7 for 11 for 64 yards and a touchdown and ran 17 times for 70 yards and 2 scores.  He also was a presence on defense with 6 tackles and an interception.

Congrats to ESP player of the week K'ymon Pope from Dinwiddie.  He led the way as the Generals rallied from 16 down to beat Monacan 38-32, advancing to this week’s regional finals.  Pope passed for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 2 scores plus a key 2 point conversion.

Congrats to ESP player of the week Jay Woolfolk from Benedictine.  The standout sophomore quarterback accounted for all 6 touchdowns in the Cadets 42-6 win over St Christopher’s in the first round of the VISAA Division 1 playoffs.  He was 12 for 20 for 135 yards and 3 touchdowns passing and ran 15 times for 217 yards and 3 more scores.  Plus he had an interception on defense.

Congrats ESP player of the week is Trey Henderson from Hopewell.  He led the way as the Blue Devils ended Dinwiddie’s 32 game regular season win streak with a 7-0 win.  The game was scoreless in the 4th quarter when the standout sophomore moved to quarterback and had a 79 yards touchdown run for the game’s only score with just over 4 minutes to go.  He was also key on defense with a tackle for loss, a fumble recovery and an interception.

Congrats to ESP player of the week is DeAngelo Gray from Thomas Dale.   He had 10 carries for 83 yards and 3 touchdowns leading the Knights to a 49-42 double overtime win over Hopewell.  He was key late running from the wildcat formation after Dale’s quarterback went down.  Gray also caught 3 passes and had a 90 yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Congrats to player of the week Andrew Puccinelli from Benedictine.  He shares the quarterback job for the Cadets, but with his team down 27-10 through 3 quarters, he took over and threw 3 touchdown passes in the 4th leading the Cadets to a 38-35 win over rival Collegiate.  Puccinelli finished 12 for 19 for 173 yards.
